The Night Reverses
The Night Reverses is a unique two-man show that remixes performance poetry into a live music improvisation. Exploring the rhythm of the line and the groove of the beat, Nathan Curnow and loop-artist Geoffrey Williams bring you an unforgettable night of verse, soul, funk and blues. No safety nets. No two shows the same.
Performing a selection of spoken word poetry, Nathan presents Geoffrey with a high-risk challenge in front of a live audience. Upon hearing each piece for the very first time Geoffrey must immediately reply, riffing on the poem, freestyling it into a groove via a loop machine and his finely-tuned instincts for layering.
The Night Reverses premiered at White Night Ballarat 2017 and has since played sold-out shows at The Lost Ones Basement Bar. It's featured at Clunes Booktown and Melbourne Spoken Word's Slamalamadingdong. In 2018 it closed the OFFMilosz Festival in Krakow, Poland, and opened the Heidelberg Literary Days Festival in Heidelberg, Germany, also playing to audiences in Frankfurt and Ludwigshafen.
Considering these COVID times we thought we'd offer you the full-length show we performed in Heidelberg. Also, here's a clip of Shit Sandwich, a piece dedicated to all the parents out there.
As dynamic entertainers and educators Curnow and Williams also provide school workshops called Verse 2 Groove. Please contact us if you'd like to know more about booking our fun and high energy program.
